Quick Update and Effective Tool for Disciplining Kiddos

And Many Years Later...

Here I am again! Hello! I had a revelation recently and snapped out of my writer's block! I was so happy to see that my old site was still up and active and practically begging me to get my crazy a$$ back to the keyboard.  So here I go!

I have been extremely crazy-busy since my last post some 6/7 years ago! The kids are older, I am back to working part-time, and I began a new journey two years ago, with hopes to get some more assistance with my son's health challenges. He was diagnosed with Autism when he was just 20 months old, and had a lot of Early Intervention, ABA Therapy, gluten free diet, social skills classes, Chiropractor, essential oils, and on and on. I am elated to announce that we are at the point where he no longer has an IEP at school (Individualized Education Plan), and does not have the diagnosis of Autism or ADHD! This was the goal, and it took us some time with many difficult stages to get here, but WE DID IT! All in all, I would say ten years is quite a success story for "outgrowing" the initial diagnosis of PDD/NOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder/Not Otherwise Specified) that was given in 2008.

One thing that helped immensely, and that we used for both of my kiddos to establish an effective listening/behavioral pattern, is 1-2-3 Magic. What's exceptionally cool about this program is that my kids' school uses it and also holds yearly parent workshops to train us how to use it at home to keep it consistent with what the teachers do. This method really was like magic and I was thrilled at how well it worked. It will typically take a transitional period of about two weeks, but I think it was less for us since the kiddos were exposed to it at school.

I highly recommend it! Check it out and please let me know what you think if you try it out.
